I was out driving this evening and when the headlights came on I noticed that the right side assembly seemed to be (for lack of a better word) bouncing up and down approx. 1/2" and, in addition, it appeared that the assembly was not open all the way. When I got home, I checked it and sure enough it is not all the way up and I can lift it up by hand. I cannot remember the last time that I drove it with the lights on so I really do not have any idea how long it has been like this. Has anyone else ever experienced this situation or know the fix??
Thanks,
Vinny
Sounds like the gear maybe gone...easy to rebuild. If you try and crank it up manually and it doesn't work that s probably your problem....I have pics etc. for the fix..IM me for the pics and link to get the parts cheapest I will also give you info on the required tools....it will take you an hour or less start to finish

my driver's side headlight also does this. my light could go up another 1/2" or so as well but when i try to crank it by hand it doesn't go anywhere. i pretty much took the whole assembly apart (as much as i could without really getting down to nothing) and narrowed it down to the extending piece. it seemed like the end that connects to the headlight had just worked loose overtime. yours might be the same way.
