The 2 inch or so round plug in the side of the shroud. Anyone know if these are year specific, or will any year's plug fit? Can you buy just one from GT or are they 10 to a pack or something...
99 and earlier had plugs that would fly out at speed. They revised the plug and bezel and it is no longer a problem.. If you have a newer vette.. then you can just order a replacement plug and make sure it is fastened in properly...

The '97 to '99 plugs were known for flying out. If you want to solve the problem, go to the dealer and get the '00 and up bezel and plugs. They stay in very well.

Except for my Z06, which lost one of its plugs the first time I drove it at night. If that's the worst thing that happens though then I'm not gonna complain. Guess I'll get it fixed when the car goes in for the control arm recall.
I had one fly out of my 02 vert last summer while I was in a funeral procession. I didn't know what happened at first -- it kind of startled me. I made a mental note of where it happened and went back several hours later and, believe it or not, I found it laying in the grass off the side of the road.
On my '99 instead of spending $30. plus for a new suround and another $3. for the plug I just cut the top of a black spray can cover and glued it inside of the suround. They won't come out and it looks great.
Once your Head lights are adjusted you never need to access the hole again anyway. If you do just take out the few screws that hold it on and proceed.

Mine was missing too when I bought my '02 coupe...they are only a few cents at the dealership and most likely in stock. The cheapest replacement part you'll ever find for a Corvette.
