Ive got a Torch Red 97 coupe, Im debating on weather I should paint the lower part of the rear end. Ive got a totally stock car except for 18" chrome ZO6 wheels, and tinted windows.
I kinda dont want to black out the rear tail lights because i love the way they are, yet i just wonder if this will look wierd with only the lower back painted black.
Ive also lowered it on stock bolts, but in the rear there is still PLENTY of room btw the tire and body. Im thinking that by getting longer bolts for the rear and sinking it a bit more, it could make the painted rear not look quite as wierd...? (im thinking that since its closer to the ground, having a rear end thats sticking up with a painted section of the back will look less wierd.)
Any thoughts?
Also, where is the best deal/best place to get longer bolts?
If i were to go to home depot, does anyone know the specs on the bolts i would need?
I've been going through the same dilema...I think I'm gonna blackout all around and paint the facia black...Good luck... to blackout or not to blackout
wow thats a good idea, i wonder how difficult it would be to make a totally strait line cut for it though... and the rear grille openings would be very hard to cut out...

That's why I had mine painted!! (and I'm in the Sign bizz.) I'm not saying it can't be done, but it'll look like vinyl. The vinyl will not have the gloss of the clear coat either.

You could put a plastic clear coat over it to make it glossy. The great thing about this would be that it is completely reversible if you got tired of it or wanted to change the color.

I've done a lot of vinyl, it could be done but most likely would not look good around the vents etc. just too much turning etc.
