I'm planning to purchase the Borla Stinger exhaust for my 03 automatic soon. I'm more interested in the sound and not the performance. I'm hoping someone will give me some advice or comments about the x-pipe. Do I really need it with the Stinger? What do I gain if I have it? Thanks! coveye
I have stingers on my 02, without the x-pipe. Sounds great. You will get popping on decel....whether you like that or not is personal choice. Adding the x-pipe should reduce the popping on decel.
and have heard that the X pipe does and does not make a difference....I personally don't have one...I can tell you that it gets less noticeable after a while

Unless the popping (and it's not that loud anyway) on decel bothers you, I wouldn't get an X-pipe. I have read seveal threads where the X-pipe has actually made the exhaust quieter...I wouldn't want to muffle those stingers if I were you such a beautfiul sound they make
I have the Borlas, without the X-pipe, and love them. You will not get "popping" with the A4, as you might in a six speed. The sound is fine without the extra money/work of the X-pipe.

I have the Stingers w/o the x-pipe. Mine is an A4 and I get some minor popping on decel but not bad. I can't see the money for the x-pipe myself. I know several others that love the x-pipe but it's your choice. You can always add it later.
