Steering lock question

Just left my car for a high coolant temp. problem, and talked to the Vette tech about the recall. He is replacing the plate (MN6) with a supposedly improved version and changing out a wiring harness. Of course they are back ordered 6 wks. on the plate. However, during the conversation, he indicated GM's greatest worry is that they are locking while driving. So, I take that to mean, that they're aware of colume lockup while driving. That gives me a warm fuzzy at any speed, never mind some that I've hit on the interstate. Scary!
