When I get all situated in the seat, I typically have my knees bent enough that my key fob is in the way. Is there a better key fob unit that doesn't dangle for the corvette? I don't want to start popping the trunk and having alarms going off while I am driving.

Duct tape the key to the fob... so the fob points straight out.
on my 04 the trunk wont open when the car is running.
You are correct. car has to be in park I believe.
try moving the seat further to the rear and straighten the seatback more (i.e. recline less). If that does not work ditch the key fob altogether.
I may go for a split apart key ring so that I can separate my ignition key from the fob while driving. I will try some different seat positions but I feel very comfortable and foot agile with my knees close to the dash. The dash seems like it was molded to fit my knees for driving.
I might just put in a push button starter like the C6 has.
That would be cool if possible, however, you will still need a keyfob and have to put somewhere. Whever you would keep it in that case, you can do now, just separate the ignition key from the key fob. If you do go the pushbutton route and have success I am sure many will want to know how, myself included.
