My Dad has a '98 Convertible with the adjustible suspension (I dont know the code for it). He took his C5 in due to a leak and the dealer said that he had a leaking shock. They quoted him a price of $660 for ONE shock! Needless to say, the bad one is still on the car. Here is my question:
What came out of the factory for a '98? I am no where near the car so I cant just go look but want to help my dad out.
He has the F45 real-time damping (RTD) suspension which is why the shocks are so $$$. If you're intent is to replace the leaking shock, you may want to post a Wanted-to-buy (WTB) thread in the C5 Parts section. Occassionally someone is selling from one to a full set of them, either new or used, for considerably less. Ebay may be an option as well but I've never checked there for F45 shocks. Unfortunately, they cannot be rebuilt.
As an option, for half the price of that one shock, your father could buy a full set of 2004 Z06 shocks or a set of Bilsteins and have the dealer disable the F45 option with a Tech II.

Unless your Dad absolutely wants the F45 option, I would go the Z06 shock route. You can have all four done for 50% of the price of one F45 shock.
