Look for forum member Teamspeed (I believe). He makes the harnesses. I thought about doing this with my new X50, but I decided to order the hard mount wire (w/o smart cord) from Escort to hardwire my radar detector. The reason I went this way is that when you wire to the rearview mirror, you no longer have a separate fuse for your radar detector. If something shorts, I want a fuse to pop, not my radar detector. If you have an 03 or older, you can tap into the accessory plug near the fuse box on the passenger side and run the wiring right up to the rear view mirror.

Assuming you have the Electrochromic mirrors the drivers side of the plug first 2 are switched with engine running 1 is hot other is ground.

I didn't solder anything. Just uncrimped the factory connects and put my wire in and recrimped.

Even the standard mirror with reading lamps has what you need to tap into that circuit. The black wire is ground, and the brown wire is switched 12V. Unplug the connector and verify yours with a voltmeter.
