Need help. I bought a GM key fob off of e-bay. The seller said it would work for C5 vettes and he had an excellent seller rating. Got the Fob and tried to follow the steps in the owners manual about how to program add'l key fobs. Didn't work. Has anyone else been successful in buying new fobs and programming them to their vette? If so, HOW? Thanks for any feedback!
I bought a used FOB from a forum member and had no problem programming it. Just make sure you got the right part as there are different FOBS for different years. It sounds like you got some generic GM FOB, maybe ask for your money back.
You are probably right about getting the wrong fob. I did check the battery and it was fine. I guess I have the wrong part #. Would there be anyone out there that knows the correct fob #? Should I just get one that matches the # on the back of mine? Thanks
Bought one off ebay myself. Tried programming didn't work. Bought new battery didn't work.
Make sure you can program at least one FOB before you call the FOB defective. I'm still waiting for my money back. Needless to say I ordered one from GM.

I called my local dealer and got the part number for my fobs. Then got a couple from ebay. Programmed according to instructions in owners manual. Work great

Very well may have the wrong part number. Should be able to look on the back of your old fob for a number. Hope you can either exchange or get your money back.
