Default Increased Compression ??

Recently brought my C5 into the shop, I guess my brother mishifted and slam the valves.....

Yes, I am not a happy camper, but the warranty covered the valves, but not the head(s). Luckily the dealership is picking up the tab. But my question is...... with the heads being done and what not ( not sure exactly what they did in the machine shop and what not, Im no engine man) but will the car have a higher compression ??? What will be the final outcome when the car is completely put back together tommorow >????

Thanks

PS I forgot what the car looks like.....

Just to be fair, why don't you mention the dealer since they are helping you out.

We hear so many horror stories about dealers but people rarely mention their name when they go above and beyond.

It should be done to the stock specifications, and therefore no change in compression, etc. But, how does a missed shift mash the valves? There should be a rev limiter which instantly stops over reving. What year C5? And, if they're buying the valves, therefore accepting liability under warranty, why are you paying for the heads? There's not enough info in your post to answer this.

Well They are saying that there was a possible misshift at a high rev and the piston came down on the valves. Thus damage occured, but who knows. Its confusing how the warranty paid for both side of the block heads but not the piston..... I do not know the whole story but that is what they said over the phone in short. Do they shave the heads, new rings, etc... at all or anything, Im jus a tad confused. IT is a 99 Coupe 6spd.........

There shouldn't be any change of compression, because they shouldn't have to mill the heads. What they should be doing is fixing it back to its original stock specifications. If there was an over rev the valves can hit the pistons, which then can crack the block, etc. If the car is under warranty, it should be all inclusive and cover everything. Unless they're holding you liable for some part of it, which you need to have them explain why you are sharing in the cost. It is confusing, especially with the limited information that you're providing. What are they telling you is the reason that you must pay, and why is that not being covered along with the parts they're warrantying? Good Luck

P.S. I now see that the car is a 99 so unless it has an extended warranty you're on your own, but you say they're paying for some of it. To me it should be all or nothing... If it's covered by warranty then it's all covered. If they're picking and choosing what they will cover, something stinks.

if down shifted into the wrong gear and overreved the engine. i ended up with valve float and 3 valves hit the pistons. i pulled the heads and replaced them. be careful
