Default Power Steering Pump Question

Do you --have-- to remove the power steering pump when removing the steering rack to get to the damper.

Installing a new fluidampr and trying to save a step if I can.

I have access to a complete auto shop, racks to get it up in the air.

tks for the feedback.

Nope. The PS pump isn't in the way of any of the components you need to remove to get to the pulley. Here's a pic of my buddy's motor when we pinned the crank for his Procharger. Notice we also have the rack out but just moved out of the way.

Thanks patches. I have noticed you have read and answered a couple of my question. Thanks alot.

Some people have said to remove the radiator and others said there is enough room. Looks like enough room to me to get a puller on there seeing how the radiator tilts forward at the bottom. Any thoughts?

I've removed the radiator each time I've done it but that doesn't mean you can't try it first. What've you got to lose? You can drain and remove it if you find you don't have enough room. It's not that big a deal to remove it if you have a bit of help though. The fans are bulky and take up a lot of room and they are heavy. To me it always was much nicer to have enough room to work as it's tight regardless of how you do it. In the pics below, you can see how much room is created after we had the radiator and rack out. I could literally stand in front of the engine. It's your call on how you want to try it.

That's my main buddy Al (Wt99C5) in the cap.

Thanks for the information, a great help.

I have all the tool togather now...puller, installer, locktight, sockets, anti-seize, ink pen, power steering fluid, wire to hang parts, tq wrench, checked the lift at the shop to make sure the car would fit, etc. New parts are in from Summit Racing, boy am I like a kid with a new toy.

Just waiting for the heat index to go below 100 degrees so I don't sweat my arrs off. Should get to it a couple of weeks. Fall is right around the coner.
