(btw, I'm one of those kids that dreamnt of the Corvette and I made my life such that now.. I have that dream parked in my garage. Booyah) So.. be sure to tell your children "Never have dreams" That will solve all those non-existant problems.

Oh wait.. the irony of it all... these saftey groups are apparently having their own problem with reality versus fantasy, in that they make up non-existant problems because of a potential problem with a KID having a dream. AWESOME JOB guys.

It is just one more case of these "groups" creating a non-factual "problem" to justify their existence.

Now we have Consumers Union/Consumers Reports, an outfit that reviews toasters, telling how we should think and what kids will do by viewing a fatasy ad. Next they'll want to ban NASCAR and ALMS because viewers can see "production" cars exceeding the speed limit.

I still want the Budweiser ants, frogs and chameleons to come back. Any kid that started drinking because a frog told him to has far more problems than just alcohol.

It's OK for kids to watch countless ads for improved erections, heartburn relief for when you eat like a pig, or psycho drugs for when you "feel" blue - but they're not supposed to have dreams about succeeding well enough to own a Corvette. (Although I may want to try the "call your doctor for a 4 hour erection" stuff - but I'll call all my friends and the Guiness Book of World Records if it happens).

Sorry for the rant, but this does tick me off.

Introduce anything involving even the possibility of having fun and there's a liberal waiting in the wings to ban and/or tax it into oblivion.

Give me a friggin break! Why must everything (!) be politically correct? In the commmercial the kid was obviously fantacizing...

Folks in those PC groups are probably afraid to sleep at night for fear they may fantacize about their mothers!

I'm confused Michael Moore can show is work of fiction to hundreds of thousands all over the world and GM get's slammed showing a dream car ad.

Us folks in middle America just don't get it!

I just went to the Consumers Union website and it has a feature to send an email to the President and your respective congressman regarding child automobile safety.

Since they made it available I used the the CU website to send this message:

"It is my understanding Consumers Union participated in pressuring General Motors to pull its advertisement "A Boy's Dream" from television.

I am opposed to their having taken such action and believe it only discredits CU's validity in having anything to do with viable automobile safety issues.

The ad was clearly marked "This is a dream" and while it appears acceptable for our children to be exposed to countless ads concerning "improved" sexual activity - a fantasy ad that might encourage imagination and a desire to succeed well enough to own a Corvette is black-listed by CU.

It is past the time for these groups to get a life and grasp on reality and stop trying to tell the American public how to think for themselves.

Thank you for your time."

Might as well use CU against CU if they're going to act like this.

They should remove every car ad that shows a car either the motor running or worse yet when it is being driven. Cars are dangerous, people are killed in them every day.

Did anybody ever think about changing the channel and watching something else.

Darn, I knew I pulled the trigger on the new C5 too quick. If I knew a C6 could fly, I'd have waited another month.

On the other hand, now that beach vollyball is over, so are the olympics.

It's strange because they're even worse here in the UK. I was looking at some ads in Road and Track and there are a healthy smattering of ads with wheels churning up the gravel or portraying speed.

In the UK, they frown on any ad that encourages speed so top speed isn't advertised . MG Rover suggested in their most recent ad that their new V8 was capable of oversteer (sharp intake of breath) so they pulled it after complaints about such incredibly irresponsible maniacal driving.

Rumour has it they're looking to get a life.

Just a bunch of babies with nothing better to do. I bet none of them own or ever will own a Corvette.

I guess they are going to pull the new Cobalt commerical next since it encourages drivers to bump into the rear end of Corvettes.

The entire video has been recorded for you to download by Troy on the C6 General Forum. I also got this information from the C6 Forum...Give her a call, drop her an e-mail, send some snail mail...

According to sources that I have, this is the lead group that worked on pulling the Boy Dream commercials.

The "spearhead" for the ad retraction is Janette Fennell with Kids and Cars (a safety group). She was interviewed on Detroit (TV) News tonight and said the ad "depicted a child dreaming of driving recklessly through city streets" and called it "over the top".

This is what happens when we raise generations of Americans with the attitude that everybody is a victim and no one needs to think for themselves. The thought that anybody would have a 10 year old kid who might be influenced into taking their parent's car and attempt to drive it through a sewer pipe and go airborne by watching a tv commercial is exceptionally depressing and speaks volumes about our culture. Very sad that we apparently need such "protection" from ourselves.
