how to prevent the fluid (I assume it's either coolant or window washer fluid) from splashing up to the hood liner? My wife's about to do some art work on my liner and I noticed the residue on the liner when we took it out, and then I noticed some on the underside of the hood itself when I washed it this weekend. Any pointers? Hecklers welcome...lol
Some guys here have partially or fully emptied their washer fluid reservoir out becuase of the spitting at high-speed issue, although there is a fix for that with a check valve. I've never had fluid come up through either of those caps. The coolant cap leaking would cause me to get a new cap because a leak would indicate it's bad if your temps are running normal. I do have polished aluminum caps which can be set to be offset any vent holes your other caps may have in case they spit upwards. You can see my caps in the pic below.

I've seen washer fluid residue on my cap since I bought the car, but there is a pin sized in the cap (for pressure relief I assumed). The rest of it is just physics I imagine. Don't know if there's a "fix".
I have the same problem in my 01 vert I have a blue stain from the washer fliud, I found that if you do not fill up the bottle all the way it should not happen again. or even further put tape on the little hole in the cover.
Here's a Heckle. Why would you paint the underside of the hood where nobody can see it. Oh, I get it! Vettes have their hoods most of the time for repairs.

Best way I can think of is to not fill the windshield washer reservoir to the top. Maybe only 3/4 full. I found that when I filled mine, it always splashed out. Keeping it partially empty stopped the problem.
