Default your floor jack

I was looking at floor jacks, I saw a really cool aluminum one
that was small and light and looked like a million bucks,
and it was one of thos really low min 3.5 inch,
but it was rated at 3000 lbs. Is that enough, or should I get one that's rated 2-3 tons.
I guess if you consider the weight of the car and the fact that the
most that you could ever lift is the front end of the car wouln't 3000 lb rating be ehough??

I appreciate your input.

I have a couple of floor jacks. One is this one from

Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=47246

A craftsman:
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00950239000

And an old 2 ton that is older than dirt.

So far I like the first one best, and it was the cheapest!!

3000 pounds is adequate. The car weighs about 3200 all up and you can only lift half the car at once.

3000lb would be plenty. Better question is, has your Vette been lowered. If so you'll need a low profile which is added expense. Mine is stock height and I have no problem with a 30 yr old 2 ton. I would check clearances before I spent alot of money.

I have a 3000 lb rated aluminum racing floorjack that I bought at a local auto parts store for about 100 bucks. It works great and is low profile....

I went ahead and bought the craftsman on Monday. I like the craftsman for the lifetime warranty and I have been partial to craftsman anyways.

I have a lowered vette (inch all the way around) and the craftsman rolls under my vette with no issues.

I bought the jack, because I was so tired of rolling my car up on some blocks to get under it with the other jacks I had.

Good luck choosing the right jack for you!

I just bought the Craftsman Aluminun Floor Jack For $119 and it came with a free Craftsman Car Creeper. It is a 3000 pound rating.

3000 lbs is good enough. I have a Sears Craftsman aluminum jack that has the low clearance and it works just fine.
