From my talks with a tuner, at ~450rwhp it's time to upgrage the injectors.
I disagree. IMO, the stock Z06 injectors are barely adequate for a stock car. I had installed just a Vararam on an otherwise stock '02 and had injector duty cycles of 99-100% at WOT! Even saw one entry where the IDC was 101%!! An over-worked injector can fail very easily and take a piston with it. Get some SVO 30#, tune them, and no more worries!
Now the question becomes whether the Tuner may be trying to sell something that's not necesarily needed, but makes them more money (obviously no offense meant here).
As far as the '02 maxing out stock, that's something I've never heard. There has to be something else goofy going on there.
I think you have to go with who you trust, and the "Big Names" I called, only one said it would be "good to do" for this setup.

I was very surprised to see my duty cycles being so high with the stock injectors, but I double and triple checked everything. Now that I have the SVO 30#, my duty cycles are at 85% at WOT - right where they should be. Best thing to do would be to log the IDC in Autotap/EFILive and see where they're at. Bigger injectors are cheap insurance assuming you can get them tuned. A couple of other folks with Z's and bolt-on's who fiddle with tuning have noted the same thing and switched to SVO's. All noted a performance improvement as well.
Is there a noticed reduction in fuel economy with the better flowing injectors ? I suspect that would be the compromise and could be why chevy engineers may not have gone the extra mile on the injectors ... just a WAG on my part.
BTW .... I am a newbie Vette owner ... Just curious about how such mods may effect fuel economy really. My Z is my daily commuter and I likely wont be tracking it at all (maybe once to get the experience), so I dont really have intentions of modding to this degree.
I have a used set of BLUE PRINTED (I have the build sheet in the box, they flow indentically, like lab equipment) SVO #30's laying around. They do work better, tested them at Thunderhill and on the road, before and after with my MTI heads and Cam package.
I have my friends son selling them for me, as of yesterday. I think I paid $650 for them. How about $300+$10 to ship? According to the guy that put the top end together on my motor, I had to move up to #36's in combination with the Walbro pump to feed the new 429.
