Has anyone done this? Pics available? I know it's kind of ricey, but take a look at the side of and EB. I think it would just look awesome with no door handles.
i've done some research before about the composite material and types of resin and filler to use. It does not seem to be too hard. If you could use a section from a wrecked door, shape to fit flush into the hole, then bond and strengthen from inside, it should be no prob.
It would clean up the lines and look really good. The only problem is you will never be able to take your car on the track unless your door is welded. So, depands on what direction you want to take the car. I think it would look cool.

You use your FOB. Normally only the lock unlocks, but with shaved handles a solinoid kicks the door open about 2 or 3 inches and you just pull it open from the seam. I don't like the idea on a daily driver driver because in an accident it might make rescuing you a whole lot harder. In some states it is illeagal to have for that very reason.
Sorry, I guess I'm just getting old, but, let's see, you're going to add weight and complexity so the doors don't look like doors? Have you done this to the doors on your home?
On second thought I don't think it's my age -- even when young I didn't like body mods just for the sake of looking different. But I have always liked performance mods!! To each his own, I guess. Many would ask, "Why do you need to make a Corvette go faster?" Of-course I have some answers -- but they wouldn't understand anyway! Just as I wouldn't understand the need to shave door handles. Though I have to add that door handles on "modern" cars are already shaved (while remaining functional), compared to the chrome handles that used to stick out on older cars.
I'll admit....that is a very clean look. For the Forum Members that are into "Hot Rods" they were shaving door handles for over 50-60 years. It really cleans up the lines of most cars.
Now just look at the C6. The designers are trying to do everything possible to conceal the door handles. Placing them on the side of the door vertically instead of horizonically where it is now on the C5, is proof that the designers have some "Hot Rod" in them.
You are right on point out4uv8 shaved door handles might not have any performance value but it really looks sleek. It adds to the visual appeal of the car.
We all know there is three reasons and three reasons only why we have a love for the Corvette. 1. It"s an American made icon of a sports car. 2. It's sleek lines and it's visual over all appearance. 3. Lastly and most important it's performance. (Man can those Vettes go fast
