Anyone have experience having their polished thin spoke wheels chromed?
- Who did them for you?
- What was the cost per wheel?
- How does the cost compare to those aftermarket chromed copies?
- How satisfied are you with the end results?
- How are they holding up? Flaking? Rust? Pitting? Scratching?
- What protectant is over the chrome? Wax? Poly? Clearcoat?
- How long ago did you have them done?
- Did you reuse the stock center caps? If not, then what?
- If you know the process they used, please explain.
I am considering having this done over the winter to my 2001 polished wheels. I am in the Chicago area, so a local recommendation would be especially useful.
If you are wondering why, I am quite disappointed in the lack of luster the polished ones have by comparison. The finish on mine in general is not in mint condition anyway, so I thought I'd retain the stock wheels, just getting them chromed.
Are you sure you don't have any other concerns or questions???.....just do it....if you don't have chrome wheels...you're missing the boat. PS. My zo6 wheels were chromed in 01' when I bought the car. they are great. The dealer sent them to a local tire store that they deal with. They sent them out. $900.
Chrome wheels rule! I was lucky, I bought my 98 used, but the previous owner put on chrome aftermarket wheels (the 00-04 style too, not the ugly wagon wheels) When they are shined up they just look awesome! They are a lot of work though, every night when I get home from work I spend 2 or 3 minutes cleaning the brake dust off each one of them. If I let it go for two days they would be very dull looking from the brake dust.
