I have been looking for my first vette for a while and I found that I really like the bowling green C5 and hope to get one in the next few months. However the fact that not many were made makes my search more difficult. Also I notices in several books I have read that vette's in green are not well liked. One book went as far as to say that "many collectors consider green paint and a vette only accpetable as a primer!" So what is wrong with a corvette in green?
On the plus side, I have found that green prices are lower then other colors!
Yeah I am definitly getting wht I want but i was just wondering if there was some reason for very few people agreeing with me. Is it too close british racing green? If memory serves there are only 700 DBGM and 500 FG. The fairway green is OK but I want the active handling and that wasn't a popular option until 99. Fairway green stopped in 98.
DBGM is a fantastic color that looks black under most lighting conditions. Almost everybody I know comments on what a classy color it is. It wasn't my first choice...but I have absolutely no regrets.

I saw what I thought was a beautiful black C5 last week just before sundown...as I circled it, it turned out to be a gorgeous dark green...I thought it really looked sharp. Of course not quite as sharp as my Torch Red coupe...

Except it WAS my first choice for my 2000. It is so dark, however, it is almost as hard to care for as black!

Green 'Vette?
I think you should get what appeals to you!
The only problem I can see with a green 'Vette is that it is not RED!
All Corvettes are Red-If you sand it with 200 grit wet/dry paper, you'll get down to the red soon enough and everything will be fine!

C5s look fantastic in green! I never understood why Fairway Green wasn't more popular. I badly wanted to find a 97 or 98 in Fairway Green, I love having unique colored cars. But up here most of the 97s and 98s are either black or silver. Believe it or not I did not see many red 97s and 98s for sale up here compared to silver and black.
Just as we all like Corvettes because of the body style, people pick colors based on the image they wish to project. A Corvette is an aggressive, intimidating automobile and the majority of people pick their colors to reinforce that image.
For example, red is the most popular color. Red is the most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. Black is the second most popular color. Black is the color of authority and power.
When we get to green however, the image projected is completely different. Green symbolizes nature. It is a calming, refreshing color. People waiting to appear on TV sit in "green rooms" to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients. However, dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth which may be why some people like it on a Corvette.
