I just recently purchased a new yellow 04 coupe. Right after I washed it the first time I notice a problem with the hood. It seems according to the dealership there was a hair between the paint and clear coat. I must say the dealership right away took the car in and I had it back 2 days later. They told me they removed the clear coat, removed the hair, and repainted the clear coat. I was fine with that as long as I couldnt tell a difference.
I was told not to wash the car for 10 days or so, dont use power washer (i dont) and dont wax( I caught the service guy putting wax on it but it was too late) it for 3 weeks (and I am someone who had 3 coats of Zanio the night I bought the car on it so this was hard). So needless to say it was in the garage most of the time. This last weekend I got it out washed it and waxed it...
It has 2 very noticible clear coat chip marks on the hood already (on maybe 300 miles of driving)... and I was going to take it back to the dealership this morning but I was still pissed from it... So i need some advice.
Is the dealership still responsible?
Is this a GM factory warranty issue?
Sometimes, you're better off to live with paint blems than to try and fix them. I have a 03 Trailblazer with a blem in the hood, rather leave it alone than have the dealer try to fix it. Just my .02 worth..

Dealership can't be held responsible for chips as a result of driving. Otherwise, they would be flooded with repair jobs. Chips are a part of driving - not much you can do to keep them all off. Sorry. Glad they got your hood fixed though.
Thanks for the responses. I do want to clear something up and I dont know if this would make a difference. The clear coat is whats been chips the yellow paint underneath looks great. The chips dont look like they were cause by rocks or objects (though I am not an expert) it just looks like a few small areas have flaked off.
Second I was told not to wax it for 3 weeks to let the paint set (again i am not an expert I just do as I was told). When I went to pick the car up and finished the paper work I was told they were detailing the car. The service manager brought be back and there was a service guy putting god knows what wax on the hood of my car. Right after the service manager told me not to wax it.
Well in life @%*# happens so I figure no harm no foul. Now after 3 weeks I washed and waxed it and they areas are noticable. I assume there has to be some warranty to workmanship here. Either way the clear coat will have to be repainted on the hood, I was just hoping that i wouldn't have to foot the cost... it will take away from my Intake, H/C, header, Exhaust money and that sucks.

You may have an issue then but would have to prove they caused the problem. Not sure if that is possible. But the problem is easy to fix for not much money.
For future reference, never let a dealership wash, wax or detail your Corvette.....EVER.
