I returned from Carlisle this past weekend only to find waiting for me the GM recall for the inferior suspension nuts and washers. It was almost a worse experience than getting my draft notice with the opening "Greetings" . Anyway, my question to all is has anyone actually taken in their Z06/Z16 and had the recall performed? What was done and can the dealer be trusted to do this work without screwing something else up? Also, was an alignment necessary after the service was performed?
I'll be interested in others experience/opinions on this....
It looks like cars built from Jan 8, 2004 to Apr 20, 2004 may be affected. You can go to mygmlink.com and signup for an account to see if your's is affected.

Reason: added year
I got the notice last week and the car is going in tomorrow. I don't really want the dealer to touch this but I figure you gotta do this because of the potential safety hazard. That's a good question about the alignment though. I'll ask to have it at least checked.
I had my 04 Z in today for the recall. They replaced the nuts and washers. Time was about 2 hours. They told me an alignment was not needed. It's only needed if the control arm is replaced.
I told them that it better run straight as an arrow because I don't want and 140 mph mishaps at the track . They assured me it was fine.
I had it up to about 80 and it seemed to track fine.

My recalled nuts were replaced today without a problem. The dealer was very nice and handled my car with care. It took the entire day as the parts were not in stock, eventhough I had an appointment. I wanted to get my car back so I can barricade it in my garage with Frances dropping by on Friday night.

Trust me on this one, getting a recall notice for a few nuts on your car is not even in the same galaxy as getting a draft notice.
Had mine done on my Z06/Z16 and it was not that big of a deal, took in at one p.m. picked it up about two p.m. new nut and washer and back out the door.

You're right; Nothing can be as bad as ending up on a "Mike" boat in the middle of the Mekong Delta that started with the word "Greetings".... That's not the same as "Recall" but it's scary to take a seemingly perfect FRC into a dealer. Not quite the same experience but nevertheless, the potential for tramatizing is there.
