Has anyone ever thought or tried to convert a C5 to AWD? If so, who knows how much something like this would cost to do? I'm just curious, not like I intend to do so. Thanks.
I would think it would be difficult seeing the the engine sits between the front wheels. Either have to move the engine to a mid engine config or lift the car way high to clear...

I would imagine that it would be very expensive to make this type of conversion happen. Maybe some day it will happen, but don't see it for quite a while.
Gosh, where to start?? It would be great if there was a donor car but since there arent any AWD Vettes out there, it would be a feat itself to make one.
new ECU and all the harnesses - most AWD cars have a main ECU and a TCU that controls the tranny functions
new tranny
transfer case
front axles
new front suspension
It probably would add 300-500 lbs to the C5 with all these new parts.
It's not impossible but I bet it will cost tons of $$$ that youre better off buying an AWD G35x.
Some guys in Japan turned a Supra into an AWD car, essentially taking a Skyline engine, tranny, suspension, etc and shoe-horning it into a MKIV Chassis.
The cost to do this, even if possible from an automotive engineering perspective would far outweigh the value of the car. Were it worthwhile, feasible and cost effective - it would have been done by now.
