Hey gang I have sort of an off the wall question for you. I am in the process of building my house right now and we are almost to the point of pouring my driveway leading up to the garage (HOOORRRRAAAYYY). The problem is that there is a rather steep incline leading up to the garage and what I need to know is what angle can I have on the incline leading up to the level garage floor and not have to worry about dragging? Dang that almost confused me... I just want to make sure I can drive my c5 up into the garage WITHOUT dragging.
Good question! I don't know but I would make it as sloped as possible. My apartment has a very steep incline and I have to approach it sideways to not scrape-but it is possible!! My C4 actually has better clearance.
I should have no problem easing onto the incline its just when it levels off that may be a problem. Scratching my head and looking for someone who knows. PATCHES are you out there... I sure could use your help here, if anyone would know it would be you...

You might want to look around at different driveway angles in your area and try out some that you think will be similar to what you're required to put in. If the owners come out of their houses, just wave at them and tell them what a great looking house they have.
It doesn't take much of an angle to scrape the bottom of the spoilers...that's why they designed them to be flexible.
I believe you are concerned with the entry from the driveway to the garage, not the entry from the street to the driveway, correct? If so, get some frame savers and then, unless its so steep that your wheels are off the ground, you shouldn't do much damage if it scrapes a bit. It actually can be pretty steep before its a problem. The actual angle can be calculated using a little trig if you know the wheelbase (base of the triangle) and clearance (height of the triangle) you solve for the angle and double it.
As much as I enjoy the idea of pulling into somones driveway that doesnt know me, I think I will stick to the forum... But good idea... Had to sit here and think about it for a minute.
Big Joe, I will be out measuring in the morning, but trig is not something I am up to tackling at 9:30 pm after being up since 4:30 am. Good idea though... Thanks....
I think its around 18 to 22.67 degrees. All of this is in direct relationship to the counter rotation of the earth and the position of the sun. At its apex in true form, it will make a diferance as to the direct approach that the car makes to the said driveway. In other words, "hell, I haven't a clue!" Jason, you can always back in!
SMART @$$... You guys are hilarious... Appreciate you getting me off to a good start today... I am going to try using a little trig to figure it out today... We'll see what happens...

Have a good one!! I'm sorry but the math required to calculate this is far, far beyond my limited abilities. I can say, that even in my lowered car, by taking driveways at an angle - you can get up a pretty steep incline - not as much as a regular car or truck, but surprisingly steep.
