Default Cat Question

I am looking at purchasing a ZO6. Everything is great about the car, low miles, great condition, tasteful mods, and a nice owner. There is only one problem, the car has the Borla stinger exhaust, and an X-pipe but no CATS. The car is in KY which doesn't require a exhaust inspection to register. I am in TN which does require a exhaust inspection. My question is: Has anyone had any problems getting a C5 or ZO6 through inspections without cats? Has anyone done it in Tennessee? Thank you in advance.

I am in NC and they check for them here.. I'm sure they will do the same in TN. Why not have the owner put the cats on or take them with you?

If the inspection station does its job, they will not pass you if Cats are missing. Hopefully the owner still has them and will put them back on the car (or as part of the deal you do it for a break in the price).

Agreed - you will likely have trouble.

With Stingers and no cats I think anyone who knows almost anything about cars will be able to tell the exhaust isn't stock (meaning it must be loud as heck) and would be drawn to look anyway.

Just my input.

Agree. Negotiate price of car minus cost of new RT highflow cats...
