Depends on the level you want to take the car to. 5 to 6k is ballpark, I paid around 9k but I had changed the exhaust and "beefed up" the engine with ARP bolts and double row timing chain, chrome moly push rods etc. Some times shops will run specials from time to time and you can save a little money.
Don't do it. Go with a blower. You'll get more bang for the buck and it's a lot less hassle. I just did the heads and cam on my car and I wish I would've went with a blower every day.

I've been thinking the same thing myself. From what I've read, a blower will likely give you twice the horsepower for about the same money - if you do the install yourself. And most appear to be 50-state legal too.
