I tried this over in the care section but either no one knows the answer or no one is reading over there.
I wrapped my California Duster in newspaper (per recomendation) for a few days before using it. Got lots of excess wax out of it. However, it still leaves a small amount of parafin residue that I can't get off with just car wash (NXT wash). After washing and drying the car with a microfiber towel, it leaves a little bit of lint attached to the parafin residue.
So.....how or what do I use to get the duster's parafin residue off the car without damaging the finish or stripping the NXT wax off the car?
OR.... Will even Dawn dishwashing soap take off the parafin (I know it will also remove the NXT wax)?
hmm.. How much residue are we talking about. I've used my duster for years now. I normally just remove it with a microfiber clothe. If you got alot of it you might try Blue magic. Its sold at any car care shop. Its bio-degradable and wont stain, scratch or dull your finish.
is it a real california duster????I've just never heard of this problem before. The blue magic should work for you though.Heck it removes bugs and tar with ease
My black '04 shows parafin marks after using the duster as well, I can remove them easily with a micro-fiber towel if the car has been recently waxed.
Never experienced the stickyness problem you described. But removing the marks latter in the week after the wash and wax gets increasing difficult. As a result I only dust 2 times a week.
Hmmmm. I've never had this problem with mine so don't know that I can help much. The instructions that come with the duster though do say that they can leave minute traces of wax for the first several uses until they are properly "seasoned". Before using mine, I allow sufficient time for the car's surface to cool and then I dust very lightly without applying any pressure per the instructions. Good luck with resolving the problem.

Just use quick detailing spray...your brand of choice.
It's the real "California Duster". The residue is ever so slight but it does pick up lint from the microfiber towel and the finish is slightly hazy every time. I always put the car in the garage and let it cool off before dusting. The LeMans blue catches a lot of dust so I do use it frequently but the car is not a daily driver.
I think I'm going to use Dawn today to strip it and re-wax with NXT. Hopefully it'll take the paraffin off as well. I normally hate to wash/wax cars but I actually enjoy "doing" the Vette. It's almost as fun as giving the wife a full body massage.
