Default Major Panic This Morning.................

This is one for the books, I have been working away from home the last nine months and have had no time to drive the Vette, but now I'm sort-of back home. So this morning I decided to uncover and start the Vette, since I keep a battery tender on I expected no excitement, boy was I wrong. First I tried to open the door and it was locked, did not remember doing that, but I just hit the unlock button and nothing happened. Now I'm thinking the key fob battery is dead, so I try using the key and when I opened the door the alarm when crazy, I'm trying to get the key fob to work and nothing is happening..... I get in the car and insert the key and the alarm turns off. I'm thinking this is getting weird. I turn the key and the DIC goes crazy, LOW FUEL, CHECK ENGINE SOON, REDUCED POWER, SHOCKS MALFUNCTION, DOOR AJAR, LR TIRE PRESSURE LOW, LF TIRE PRESSURE LOW, RR TIRE PRESSURE LOW, RF TIRE PRESSURE LOW, ..................

Now I'm in the PANIC MODE, but I try to start car, motor fires and immediately dies, try this about half a dozen times, same thing, even tryed pumping the gas pedal. By now I have that sick feeling in my stomach, so I get out of the car and take a walk, thinking what to do.

I decided to disconnect the battery and see if that would clear the system, but while looking at how many things I would need to remove to disconnect the battery without scratching my painted covers, I remembered the Window Valet I had installed, my aching brain said give that a try, since it was easy to do.

Well I reached under the dash and unplugged the Window Valet and figured that nothing would change, but I inserted the key and turned till the DIC was displaying, WOW........... everything was normal, so I cranked the motor and it fired immediately. Now my stomach is doing flops and my blood pressure is starting to ease a bit.

I leave the car running a few minutes and figured I would try the Window Valet to comfirm what appeared to be a failure. I plugged in the Valet and inserted the key and turned till the DIC displayed, again everything was Normal.

I guess I will monitor for awhile and see if it happens again. If anyone has some weirds things happen to there car and have a Window Valet, it maybe you problem.

It is now time for a stogie and a drink, blood pressure has receded from about 300 to normal, head still aches, but aleast I won't have to schedule a dealer visit.

Weird. Never heard of that happening. Quick thinking on your part though.

I have a WV and have never experienced that (and hope never to).

Somthing similiar happend to me. I was outside my friends office and some lady tried parallel parking in front of my vette and i saw she was getting close so i hit the panic button so the alarm/horn would go off. Once it went off she decided to park somewhere else and i hit unlock to turn it off but nothing happened. I assume by hitting unlock it wourld turn off the alarm, but it didn't. I also have the WV module. I havent' tried it withit out yet just cause its not a HUGE deal.

Probably oxidized terminals on the module. Removing & replacing it corrected the problem. Good luck

That could be a possibility, the connection is not a real tight fit and only a few of the OBD-II terminals are used.
