with only 338 at the wheels I would think it would be closer than you described...JMO....I know there is a weight difference but he should be putting about 350 to the ground..no??
either way
:agree
Regardless, congrats on your kills but a relatively stock (intake/catback) C5 vs. a relatively stock newer Cobra is not a forgone conclusion.
The fact that you had 4 car lengths on the guy in the 1/8 (did I read that right - an '8') means that that guy can't drive or launch for crap.
Sorry, it's a good kill, but I wouldn't recommend using the conclusion of this race to feel that you could beat anyone of them on any day.
i agree he can't drive, but like i said when we switched cars i could not keep up with the vette in the cobra. this wasn't an official drag track. this was an old private runway. i drove the cobra on the highway too, there is lag when you shift gears. that supercharger needs a fraction of a second to generate boost. and it sounds like ****. im having second thought on the ati procharger. i think an all motor solution is the way to go. no forced induction for this boy racer.
This guy at work just bought a brand new Mustang Cobra. So naturally him, me and another guy from work with a 68 Camaro with a 427 went drag racing. The first run I completley decimated the field. Probably 4 car lengths at the end of the 1/8 mile. the camaro came in dead last. Poor guy couldn't stop his car from burning rubber half way down the track.
So we decided to do a second run to make sure it wasnt a fluke. Sure enough same order.
So then just for kicks the cobra guy and i switched cars to make sure it wasn't driver error. And I watched with both pride and sadness cause i was driving this POS cobra as all I could see were the tail lights of the vette and they were getting smaller.
in closing the Vette is a phenomenol car. my vette has 50k miles on it and it still rides nicer than the 390hp cobra, and it totally owned the cobra, and it sure as hell looks better and it would be cheaper to buy right now than a brand new cobra.
I cant even imagine how badly that cobra would get his *** kicked with a z06.
