another battery ??
Car was parked for 6 1/2 weeks. Got home and fired her up no problem but found all my radio presets were gone. Does the battery go into suvival mode and shut off power to various parts after a certain no-run time?

I don't think so.....what does your ammeter indicate when the car is running? It should indicate a little over 13 volts (around 13.6 or so) hat That would indicate a healthy charging system to me (that woould include the battery).
If not - you might consider replacing the battery - I'd go with an Optima.
And for future long periods of hibernation, you might consider a Battery Tender, or at the very least disconnecting the negative lead from the battery.
