I can understand some of the CLB threads being closed. But there was one today about a fellow CF'er celebrating his one year anniversary with his vette that was closed. Out of curiosity, why was that one closed?

Possible because it was in the wrong section. Just like this one, I'm guessing off topic would have been more appropriate.

Wel, I put it in this one because that is where the one was closed was. And how is talking about your one year anniversary in a C5 off-topic in C5 general?
If that was the case it would have moved, not closed.

He's was celebrating 1 year on the forum. Anniversaries, and celebrating post counts, Like "I just hit 1000 posts!" are not allowed, Why? I donno, probably because if everyone did it it would take up too much band width.

Yep...you have to remember, this forum has something like 70,000 members. If the mods allowed celebrations for anniversaries, post counts, etc then we would need a whole separate forum just for that.

You are right lager, 6200 post has nothing to with cars. But his thread about his anniversary with his car was just as revelant as about anything else in this section.

It's just the way it works. As others have said, it helps to save space (at least in the post count ones). Also, anything inappropriate, (kill stories, bashing, etc), will get locked. The mods are just doing their jobs.
Oh, IBTL hehehe.

Again, I understand what you wrote about those being locked. I just didn't see how this one fell into that category. I mean look at all the tech questions that are asked in C5 General.

perhaps in the future, a PM to a section moderator might clear up the question. The answer was given in the thread. Post counts every 10K and anniversary dates are allowed for a short period of time. However, C5 general is not the place for either. In addition, if you have a question about the posting of tech questuions in general, use the

button to send a moderator a link to the question...
