i filled my 97 up the other night and drove down the road and it said half a tank. then i started it up last night and now its says full. ive heard there could be problems with these. anybody have some input on it?
Me too.
It did this last night. I was thinking, if it cost that much to fill it half-way, then a pumping a full tank is going to cost about $50!!
Then this morning the gas gauge was beyond full.

Common problem. Could be the brand of gas you use or the sending units. Try switching brands first or run a can of Techron in it. If that doesn't work, may be the sending units.
Don't believe the hype! It's all GM. I fill up both cars at the same station, but only the vette has a problem.
except none of my other three vehicles have a problem. I know some folks have said they've seen it, but I have never come across anyone other than Corvette owners who have had this problem (outside of the one publicized incident where the Houston refinery accidently shipped over-sulfered fuel to southeastern states a few months ago).
I had mine go from 1/2 tank to empty on 3 separate occasions. I pulled over, sut the car off and restarted. Each time it reset it to read correctly. It hasn't happened for the longest time. **Knock on wood**
