Default How hot is hot enough?

I've always heard that "short trips" aren't the best for an engine because the engine doesn't warm up enough before turning it off etc.

So just how hot does it have to get where that is no longer a problem? I have a relatively short commute and am interested in how hot the coolant and oil temps should be to not be a problem down the road.

Thanks...

It's not that big a deal, but ideally you want to get the oil temp over 212 degrees for some time to burn off any moisture in the oil.

Ultimately, if you're doing more short trips you should change your oil more frequently. Fortunately, the DIC figures this into its oil life reading.

with Duck916. I have a short trip to work, so I do change my oil more often than I normally would.
