Ok, so i haven't completely made up my mind to not get a Z06, but here's another question....
I saw two 2002 Z06's this past weekend. A '03 Z06 M.Y. with 2670 miles for 42k, and a '02 Z06 Electron Blue with 19k miles for 38,800. Now, i'm thinking thats a to high. What should an 02 Z06 be going for, ballpark??
Brand New '04 Z's were going in the low 40k's pretty recently, so use that as your guide. However, it may depend on the "Mods" any used Z may have and whether they are things you want or not that also would affect the price. You would need to know what Mods if any were dont to the Z and price them out to get an idea if they may be worth the price difference, etc.
I paid $38,500 3 months ago for my 2002 Z06 with 6000 miles in showroom condition and all options. I wanted something very specific though, namely TR with MR interior. I was willing to pay a little more to get exactly what I wanted. I could not get that color combo in a new Z06 because they were all gone. Since the 2002, 2003, and 2004 models are practically identical, I would base my decision on getting exactly the color combo that you want and mileage, ignoring the year. The factory warranty is not that important as long as there is some left when you buy the car. For $880, I got the GMPP Major Guard 48/40 extended warranty with $0 deductible. This allowed me to take the warranty situation out of the buying decision.
I paid $35500 for an EB 2002 Z06 with 3800 miles on the clock. That was in June. Prices seem to be coming down as a friend of mine is looking at a 2003 with 12k on the clock for just under $36000 and Kerbeck recently sold a TR 02 with 5k on the clock for about $35000.
Look in your local paper, local autotrader and see what they are going for in your marketplace......if you are comfortable dealing online then you can shop any dealership out there if that is your wish.
Best option: arrange your own financing and then buy private party. Better cars generally, lower price, fewer miles and many choices.
Do not settle on a car, you'll only regret it later. Get the color you really want, the options you really want.....not many on a Z06 though.
Well i paid $32,100 for an '02 z06 with 27k about 3weeks ago. That price includes tax, title & processing fee. Hard to find blk/blk down here. I am happy with it. I do want to extend the warranty though.
I looked around back in Feb and march and I bought a brand new 06 Z06 exactly like I wanted for $45k in CA. ( which was $7,000 off sticker) at Power Chevrolet in Hawthorne. Easiest purchase I have ever made. Looked them up on the internet called them becasue I lnew they had the exact car I wanted, they ok'ed the price and I drove out an hour later...
A local Ford dealer had an 04 Z06 tha thad 300 miles on it for $47,000 . I told them they were crazy since I can buy a new one for less..
Thank you everyone for the replies. I thought they were nuts asking that much for those cars. The 03 was modified slightly, which i do not want. I want to get an unmoddified Z06. I can do without the factory warrenty, but i'd have to get an extended warrenty which is frickin expensive, or atleast the one i got on this Vette was. Only problem is i just bought mine in January so i owe approx what it is worth or a little more. Lord knows i don't feel comfortable doing deals across the internet. Guess i'll have to keep lookin.
Just use the internet as a giant classified ad to locate cars you are interested in. Almost all Corvettes listed on E-Bay never meet the reserve. Just wait until the auction is over and contact the owner to look at his car. I found my Z06 on the internet through a classified ad service. I found a car that I thought I might want, drove over and looked at it, and then made the deal on the spot. I drove the car home that day. I would never buy a used car sight unseen.
Do not buy a Corvette without a good warranty!!! I have owned several and all have had their problems (minor and major). With that said, I will still buy Vettes...just with warranties.
