Default Shaky headlights, need bushings

Help!

I recently bought a 98 vette with a salvage title that had been repaired. Badly I might ad. Anyway, one headlight shakes badly when driving and I investigated the problem and found out that the bushings are missing at the pivot points (between upper and lower bracket) on one headlight. I went to the dealer and they do not sell the bushings separately. I was told that I need to spend $485 per headlight assembly to correct the problem. Yea, right. I went to Carlisle and tried to find damaged headlight assemblies to rob the bushings and none were to be found, except for $300 for a used assembly. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to purchase these bushings? I've tried to find them at a hardware store but can't find the exact size I need.

Any advice will be appreciated.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I had the top hat for the pin fall off and lost the pin. I played hell finding another pin of just the right size so it would not bounce. The washer appears quite cheap and I figure they will wear out. I though of using a brass pin but for sure that would wear out the pressed steel leaver arm. The next choice would be a teflon sleeve on the pin. Haven't needed to do that yet. In your case if you can't find the washer perhaps a different sized pin with a sleeve will work.
Please post your solution because I know we who keep the car for a long time will eventually need the answer. BTW once you have everything apart you may want to consider upgrading the gear in the motor to brass. I have read a lot of posts that the nylon gear fails quickly.
It is sure to happen to me because I drive mine every day. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply and the good advice. I will post my solution once I find one. I'm hoping somebody will find one before I have them made by a machinist.
