Arrest me red does it again.
I was driving on the interstate surrounded by traffic (like 20 cars or more) on Friday the 9th when the laser detection went off. I see them always sitting there in the median / same spot so I was pacing my self and being very careful. I didn't get pulled over but today I received a vehicle equipment warning about not having a front plate. The officer also circled speed under other offenses and just noted 55 zone. I have until the 27th to have a front plate installed and then mail the tag in after its certified by the police.
I hate the look of a front plate on these cars. What's a guy gonna do? Put a plate on it and get them to sign off then remove it and take my chances. They will spot it for sure with that ARREST ME RED PAINT!

Thats going to be my story.
p.s. don't use it too much
I do almost the same thing.
I took the cover plate and notched the holes to create vertical slots. I then run the screws in about 3/4 of the way in. Insert the cover on the top edge and pop the bottom over the screws in the bumper.
If you get pulled over say, sorry was at a car show and forgot to take it off. Get out and pop it off to reveil the plate.

Both of your ideas are very good, as long as you get a good cop. This one didn't pull me over just mailed the tag. The laser gun takes a photo of the front of the car showing your speed with the plate numbers exposed. Works well for them in court. This guy must have taken a shot at me after I went by as well for the plate number. Thanx for the imput, I will install the plate under the cover today!
I've been driving for 10 years minus the front plate and have been stopped 2X. I keep the tag under the seat and tell them I took it off for a show. Both officers wrote warning tickets.
For years I resisted putting on the front plate. Never had one on my 2000 or 2003. Then TX changed the law to make it a $200 fine so I caved in. At first I thought it looked like s&%t but, funny thing, after a few months it doesn't look as bad to me any more. And also I don't get any fewer "Nice Car!" comments. I'll leave mine on and no longer worry about the small town revenue generators (traffic police...) seeing me.
I would definitely get a kick out knowing a LEO pulled me over for not displaying a front plate and then after he walks around to the front of the car sees a plate clearly displayed.

Many continue to take the chance that they won't get stopped if a front plate is required. I chose to run the plate with a Kewl painted license plate surround and it actually looks pretty good. Just an option.
Just got back from the cop shop/shoe shop after having an officer certify that I had installed the front plate. I asked him why the big deal about the front plate, and why was I singled out? He said it depends on the cop if they want to bother with it. Then he looked at the cops name on the tag and laughed, 'HA, he has a Corvette!!" I asked him why another Corvette owner would not understand, and his reply was that since the cop was required to do it, he was making sure everyone else did too!
