A friend of mine has a wrecked C5 that he is parting out. Anyway, I want to take the steering wheel off, but I can't figure out how to remove it. The airbag is already gone, but in the wheel hub there are no holes to thread my steering wheel puller bolts into. This is the first steering wheel that I've seen without the holes. I've tried just tugging hard on the wheel after removing the large nut, but it won't budge. Is there some other type of puller that I need to be using? Thanks a lot for any advice.
When I took mine off I went to "Pep Boys" and bought a generic gear puller/wheel puller for like $8 and it worked for me. If you look at the wheel close enough you will notice that there are a few holes, its just that they are smaller than the hooks on most pullers. Just get the smallest one that you can find and it should work for you. It doesnt really take that much force to get it off, it just takes the right leverage pulling on the right spots.
This is the style that I used and it worked fine.
