New here! Looks like a great forum. I sold my '01 Z06 and I'm looking for a Millenium Yellow, so I hope I'm accepted since I'm in between Z's.
It's funny, I belong to some other forums, and when trying to sell my Torch Red Z, I was always being led to believe that it wasn't worth too much. Plus I would get calls from a lot of wholesalers trying to buy it but offering me a low ball figure, and saying "oh you know what its worth, you're on all the forums". Well what I actually figured out was that some of the forums are controlled by the wholesalers themselves or people in the dealer business trying to regulate the prices for their benefit. Notice when they're trying to sell something its right on retail. They get a feel by hanging the forums how anxious someone is to sell and if the car has been raced or not and then they feed on that like a lion lurking in the bushes waiting for it's prey.
I sold my '01 with 6,000 miles for $36,500 and these people that were calling me and admitting they were wholesalers, were telling me that they just picked a few up for $22K and $23K. Talk about a profit. Now I'm looking for a MY '02 or '03 Z and retail on an '02 with low mileage is $41,500 according to Kelly Blue Book. And, they're selling between $36 and $37. I learned my lesson. I'll never advertise on a forum again. I finally put it on Auto Trader and that worked out great.
Hopefull I'll be getting my new one soon. I'm looking at an '02 with 2,000 miles on it and he's asking $39,500. That's below retail. I offered him $37K, so I'm just waiting for his decision. I really want this one.
I never go by what KBB says. KBB is run by dealers and wholesalers, the price is always higher than a "real world" scenario. With the new 2005 Corvette out the C5 prices have gone down hard.
I'd would think buy now. The new c6 is going for big bucks, no new Z till at least a year from now. So I think unless the economy tanks, the C5 Z should command a higher price next spring. But who knows what the future will bring with the election and terrorisom.

I just brought an 03 for $40,000 with only 6500 miles on her.
Well I just went to Ramp yesterday on Long Island. The new C6's aren't any different in price than when the C5 was new, except the convertible which is just a little bit higher than the C5 verts new. I saw a coupe down there. Figuring maybe I'll buy the new C6. They were right on MSRP. One that was there went $43,445.00, and with the extra options it had was $46,850. But anyway, my wife and I looked at it and we were comparing it to the '04 that was next to it. The C6 sits a little higher, and the windshield is up more, they said for easier access. The cuts in the roof panel on the coupe didn't appeal to us, and the back, depending on what angle you look at it didn't attract us much. The front looked like any other sports car now without the hidden headlights. The dash didn't give me such a great feeling either. We compared it to Pontiac interior. Took it for a ride and wasn't that impressed. Anyway to make a long story short, a customer that was there had an '02 EB Z06 with 6,000 miles on it and I heard him say he made trade it in for the C6. Outside I approached him and told him I was looking for one in MY, but now that I saw your Electron Blue, it just hit my wife and I. I told him my situation and he said I could take his for $40K. My wife and I looked at each other and when I say this car was clean....he still had the plastic on the floor from factory....we said what the heck. You save a thousand here or there, but in the end you have to just get what excites you. He was an older gentleman and the car was never raced and stored in the garage. He had all records. We made the deal there. I ran to the bank and made the transaction there. Everything fell into place yesterday and she's now in my garage. I have no regrets getting the Electron Blue. They said they only made it for a year and a half. The guy who I bought it from, said he had decided to wait for the C6 Z06, if they call it that.
I tell you what - when the last new Z06 rolls off the floor, Z06 prices will firm up big time. $40K is a handsome price for an 02.
I know I paid a grand or two too much. But I'm not really going to get any richer or poorer. Who knows if I'd ever find an EB Z in that condition. You know it's strange, but when you see a C5 coming down the road, with fog lamps on, sitting low, you know it's a C5 Corvette. I am in love with the C5 Z06. I did some reading and found out that its the second shortest run for body style, compared to the C2 as first. Wish I could afford a C2 as well. Not practical now.....someday maybe. But I feel the C5 has a classic body style in the same way as the C2 has today.
Were you at the Ramp Vette show on Sat ? I was there between 12:30 and about 2:00 .. we may have crossed paths. I did like the C6 but still like my 04 Z that I bought new from Ramp back in June just a bit better. The C6 Z if/when it comes out may be different, but I am still happy I got the 04 Z. I suspect you will be happy with your Z and not regret it. Just wanted to say high to another "Islander".
Yes, I was there. I was born in Brooklyn and moved to the island. I may be getting transferred to PA. Won't be missing the Island all that much. There are a lot of car shows and beautiful roads to drive the Vette in PA. The island is great but getting more crowded and too expensive to live. I will miss my family though, but it's not that far to come in once a month.
This electron blue is an outrageous color. Just got done Zainoing it. Had some Zaino left over from my other Z. A lot of the reactions I heard at Ramp from people was that they thought that it would give the same type of reaction as when the C5 came out, but it didn't. I thought the fenders reminded me of the C3, but when I sat in it, it didn't give me that feeling that a Vette is supposed to give you. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Cool.. I'm sure we saw each other or even spoke at some time during the show on Sat considering how few people showed up ...
I too was born in brooklyn and moved to the island back in about 1989. I couldnt agree with you more about the Island getting crowded and unaffordable to boot.
I also agree with you about the C6. I was only impressed with a few of the new nicety options and I thought the lines were cool looking on the car. I like the nose but not the Rear and the interior didnt impress me much. My wife liked it more than I did actually. I just bought my 04 Z from Ramp in June, so I was really going more out of curiousity than anything else. I plan on keeping the car a bit longer. If you live around Ramp area, we should hook up sometime to shoot the breeze. I live in Nesconset. Best of luck on your new ride, it definitely sounds like a beauty.
Welcome Steve.
My wife and I were at Ramp on Saturday also. Maybe you saw my Millenium Yellow Z06 there. I met Andy and his wife. I was surprised at the low turnout. Maybe there was a larger crowd today.
Congratulations on the EB Z; EB is an awesome color. I wanted that
color too, but unfortunately it was not available for '04. Good luck with
the new ride...
I paid $35500 for an EB Z06 with 3800 miles on it about 3 months ago. They're dropping even lower now and a friend is looking at a 12k 03 for under $35000.

Whatever you pay, the car is worth it.
Not by what your saying.
Like i said i do not care if i save a thousand here or there, in the end you have to just get what excites you.
Was not a bad amount for me
