I am looking to decrease the road noise/rattles from my coupe. I was initially thinking Dynamat, but everyone seems to thinks its way over priced. On some of the car audio sites, http://www.secondskinaudio.com/ seems to have a good rep and much cheaper than dynamat. I was looking at Damplifier Pro (Improved version of STFU-80) for $119.
Anyone have any experiences with this stuff? Will 40 sq feet be enough for at least the rear?
I used Dynamat Xtreme on the center console area (because it has a higher temperature range) and B-Quite Extreme for the rest of the car. Then, on top of that, I went with Evil-Twins method for noise reduction (can be found here, BIG thanks to Evil for doing the R&D and sharing ) and added VNM's Backbone for heat reduction (the increased chassis stiffening and improved handling/cornering were an added bonus - thanks Mark!). Finally, I lined the outside rear compartment (the area between the interior rear compartment and break lights, removing the break lights and license plate assembly to gain access) with Reflectix and filled it with 3 inch acoustic foam. The results were simply amazing, there is very little rattle at HIGH volume/EXTREME bass and in order to get any interior heat... well, I have to turn on the heater .
