power chord
As for a "power cord", yes there is a way to splice it in - here's a pic and I'll try to find the directions tomorrow (don't remember the wire colors).

First, find your rearview mirror. above the headliner in the middle is a small bundle of wires. cut the shielding to expose the 4 wires. Colors are black, brow, orange and peach (light orange). Your radar detector shoul have 2 wires that power the unit. My wifes radar detectors plug was made to look like it had 4 but it only had 2....duh power and ground. cut the radar detector power cord so that only 5-6 coils remain toward the unit. there should be 2 wires.
Mine was red and white. I have the Escort. splice the white into the black and the red into peach. Tape the wires back as a bundle and tuck neatly away under the headliner......that's it.
This gives the RD a fused power supply and turns the unit off after the car powers down. When you enter the car, wheather you use the remote or unlock the door with the key, the unit powers back up with the car. never have to worry about turning it on or off. this also places the unit just below the tinted part so it is almost invisible from the outside.

this is from Ebay as shown above and it works great you can not beat the price
