The Blackwing will allow for the complete removal of the stock airbox, and that baby will now breath...a half cover type piece is also made for those that want to hide the exposed filter element, most run it open. With this, you may want to also consider a hood seal molding!! Drive and enjoy.

I understand the HP gains but what about the $260 for just a Filter? Am I missing something?

Just did the Blackwing with a GHL Bullet exhaust and Magnaflow X-Pipe. Mucho bang for the buck. Really transforms the car. Did the hood seal and run the intake open. There is also a Halltech product that includes replacement of the Air Tunnel Bridge as well.

Yes you did miss something, or else I did...these are running about $210 I believe, unless there is a group special going on, may pick one up for less. You could also check the For Sale section here, may find a near new or used one for alot less. There are other set-ups available also that will produce as good results...now go get one!!

Yeah, a few things.

First, you won't need to replace it when it gets dirty. The monitor that comes with it will let you know when it needs cleaned. A nice chunk of HP. Exhaust sounds better. Engine seems to just ru better. Before I put it in, it kinda petered out near the rev limit. Immediately after, I accidentally bounced the limiter a few times as I found it kept going w/o losing any oomph. Assuming no change in driving style, you can also expect an extra 1-3MPG (my experience).

It is easy to put the stock one back on in case you need to for emmisions testing, something many of the alternatives can not say.

Oh yeah, and it friggin looks awesome.
