Default Bsm Bs

Upon taking off my BSM's and cleaning the body of my '03, look at the cute little gift I was left with on the driver's door.

It's basically a 14" dark stain that is completely engrained into the paint.
I took it by the dealer, and long story short, they consider BSM removal a vehicle 'modification' and are unwilling to cover any repair.
Anyone ever seen anything like this?

Dunno if that was from the bsm or a parking lot encounter. Looks like rubber from somebody's bumper. If it is from a bumper, some swirl remover might take care of it. Good luck dealing with pos dealer. They consider driving the car a reason to void warranty P.S. hope you get it fixed w/o too much hassle, or just put em back on

The paint under the BSMs should be a good as the paint on the rest of the car. They should cover fixing this area. I would find another dealer or just call GM Customer Service and explain the situation to them. Good luck. I would be angry also.

That looks more like a stain/discoloration in the paint. the underlying paint might still be OK. I would try some 3M rubbing compound, then wax the area real good. A lot of people with yellow get "ghost" BSMs when first removing them. But the discoloration disappears within a few months. That looks like a bad case of the ghost, but the pic may be misleading. Hope you get it fixed, and don't reinstall the BSMs.

The mark is definitely a result of the BSM, and not getting bumped in the parking lot. As soon as I took off the BSM and cleaned off the adhesive, it was apparent that the paint was stained. The first dealer I took it too tried buffing, rubbing compound, even wet sanding. Nothing worked. That discoloration is embedded into the paint.
The body shops that have seen it say the only fix is to respray the entire door.
I think that GM calling this a "Vehicle Modification" and denying warranty coverage is absolute BS. There is no way that anything other than the BSM could have cause this. Heck, the paint has not seen the light of day until a week ago!
One dealership associated body shop quoted me $425 to do the repair... I'm pissed that I'll have to pay anything to get it fixed.

No, don't do it! Try something much milder than that stuff. Scratch X, for example
