VnM Backbone

Anyone know who has these and what it should cost. Anyone make their own? Does not look that difficult for a small machine shop.

George, I don't make the Backbone. That is a very good product made by Mark (forum member 30yeardream).

However we off this product

We are now offering an OEM replacement Chassis Tunnel Reinforcement at a great price.

Selling price for the 1/8” thick Stainless Steel is $165.00 shipped

Selling price for the 1/4” thick Aluminum is $130.00 shipped.

What grades of metal (stainless and aluminum) do you use for your two plates?

The stainless steel is type 304 and the aluminum is
6061-T6.

Sounds good - you'll probably get quite a bit of business from this. I was planning to have a custom one made due to the high prices other vendors are charging, but now i'm not sure...

Thanks John and great looking picture.

To be honest, I tried really hard to make this affordable for all the Forum Members.

Current material prices are very high. It is only because of my long relationship with my material vendor that I am able to offer at these prices. By the time you factor in your personal time, I don’t think you would save any money making your own.

thats seems reasonably priced ,is there any advantage as far as heat transfer, strength , etc.,between the 2 materials?

I really hesitate to answer because I really don’t want to hijack this thread from 30yeardream. Mark also offers the stainless steel version.

IMO, I choose the stainless steel version over the aluminum because stainless will absorb and retain the heat better than the aluminum. Also, the stainless version is a better bang for your buck.
