Since you live in MN, I would use only 5W30, just as the book calls for (instead of the optional 10W30). However, you should consider using Mobil1. Considering your climate, I would trust ExxonMobil to stand behind their product re: warranty if there were any oil related problems. Considering that your winters are nasty, I would use only Mobil1, also what the book calls for.
5w30 in the engine, ATF in the tranny, series 2000 75w90 in the diff.
I use 10-30 Amsoil as I do not drive it in the winter. If I replace the trans filter and want to replace with Amsoil how much Amsoil ATF should I order?
I got the 5w 30 for now and Minnesota weather does not affect car due to storage when cold. I am looking for an all purpose oil that I do not need a tranny cooler for when running on the road course 5 times a season. I appreciate mobil 1 as the standard but cooler oil temps will let me stay on track longer. Thanks, Camiv
I run 10-30 Amsoil in my vette and 5-30 in my tahoe. I don't drive the vette in cold weather like I do the tahoe but it really doesn't get that cold in central Oklahoma. If you put Amsoil in your diff make sure they don't put their own additives because they are a petroleum based and that pretty much defeats the purpose of using synthetic.
