Remember that the C5 was an attempt to copy the Japanese. Specifically the RX-7. Everybody back in 1997 said the new vette had lost its *****.

I won't beat the dead horse about the looks (ok, I will - I like the sexy curves of the C5 much better - it' s got more personality - the C6 almost is a step back toward the C4 with its straight lines). But anyway, what I really fear is that they WILL call the hi-po version the ZO6. Has Chevy ever carried a performance version from one model to the next? ZR1 stands alone as a C4 model. L88 is a C3 deal. Yeah, the ZO6 designation goes back to the 63 fuelie (correct?), but they waited nearly 40 years before bringing it back.

I think the C6 model should have its own hi po designation, to not dilute the value and panache of the ZO6 name - which I think belongs to the C5.

i feel same way about the new vette versus the old vette as i do with the viper. i think the old viper looks meaner and the new one looks smoother and more subtle. the new is not as wild but is nicely put together. both have their advantages. both are great cars.

The "Z06" will become ongoing "high performance" badge, similar to the way "Z28" has been for the Camaro through various generations.

Or it'll be some variation on the same theme, like "Z07."

I would rather keep the "Z06" name as strictly a C5 designation, that way I can simply say I have a "Z06" and everybody will know what that means.

I have driven by a few C6's on the highway and didn't wave-realized I drove by a vette a moment later and laughed.

After owning 8 vettes, this one won't be one in my garage.

We'll see what the C6 Z06 looks like-maybe it will stray me to buy another vette

What?! Now wait a minute. If someone doesn't like the look of the new Corvette, and maybe doesn't like the way the Corvette is headed, then being UNsupportive of the new design would likely be a GREATER support to the Corvette name in the long run.

The Mustang started out as a great car. And then it got even better. But then the Mustang II came out at one point, and I'm sure the public flipped out about how pitiful it was. It was a complete disgrace to the Mustang name. I'd imagine that people's LACK of support for that car put pressure on Ford to make it better. And Ford did. And the Mustang lives on.

The same holds true for the Corvette. I think it's ok for people to not support its design. Sure, I hope the friendliness between different Corvette model owners remains the same throughout all future iterations of the car -- but, it's ok to not like and not support the design, isn't it?!

I think the Viper got too "soft," the BMW's too odd, and, well, the Corvette could run the risk of getting too "European." I don't think there's anything wrong with not supporting the new design.

All of that being said, if you HATE the new C6, then you didn't see Mallett's version at Carlisle! WOW!!!

I think the people that make that cool aggressive-looking Tiger-Shark front nose cone should be thrilled. Let's see, do I want the stock "happy face" look or do I want to spend a little more for the rakish, sophiticated ferarri-lik look of the Tiger-Shark nose. DUH!

Before judging my opinion, keep in mind that it is just as unimportant as any other.

The C-6 will grow on you just like the C-5 did. There were things I did not like about the C-5 when it first cam out like the big back bumper and no clam shell hood. Told my self I would never own one but after several months the C-5 look's grew on me. I would love to own a moded Z-06 one day. I just don't want to give up my C-4 to get one. The C-6 Z-06 will be an awesome Corvette just as the C-5. Give it time and it will grow on you.

They don't do a thing for me. I"ll keep the C5 and hope the C7 shows up sooner rather than later.

The C6 is growing on me (except the headlights ), but the C5 didn't have to "grow on me", it was love at first sight.

Don't like the exposed headlights, front end is too bulky, interior too dainty, hate the plastic grey dash bezel, can't stand the fact that you cant even here it run. After seeing one in person and seeing a Z06 next to it, my Wife and I decided we must get a Z06. To me, it just does not look like a Corvette anymore, kind of a cross between a Viper and Mitsubishi something or other.

When the C5 came out in 97, I remember reading an editorial about it that started out really raking the shape and look and interior and everything else over the coals. Then the author came clean and said that what you'd just read was a review written 13 years earlier, in 1984, about the then-brand new C4!

Remember how our beloved C5 got hammered for its fat ***? I suspect the most of us Vette lovers will eventually get used to the new model, even if we decide to stick with our current one. To me, nothing is sexier than the Z06.

But I STILL wish GM would give the C6 performance version a different designation. Are you listening, GM??? Let your new car stand on its own, not take credit for ground broken - ripped to shreds, actually - by MY car!

I saw a Chevy ad inside of my Road and Track magazine last night that cliams the top speed of the C6 is 186mph. Does that mean the 2002 (mine) through 2004 Z06s are no longer the "fastest production Corvette ever." ? (Z06 top speed 171 mph). Interesting

At 171 the Z06 technically wasn't the fastest top speed Vette, I think the ZR1 holds that distinction. I think the Z was referred to as fastest production Vette in terms of 0 - 60 and 1/4 mile, etc. and still will hold that nod for a bit until the next C6 Z-like model is introduced.

I drove around in one and felt it was much more domesticated than the Zo6. Very quiet and smooth but not my cup of tea. I agree its reminds me more of a girls car. I don't like the exterior as much as the c5.
