IMHO I wouldn't touch it. Some dealer (not necessarily the selling dealer) had multiple attempts to fix a problem and was unable. There are sometimes weird problems that would entail complete disassembly of the car to fix. If this is an A4 (you didn't say), the electronics get involved as well as mechanicals. That makes things even more scary.

It is entirely possible that this car has now been fixed, but I wouldn't gamble. Just my opinion, YMMV.

The fact that GM bought the car back means the previous owner had some SERIOUS problems that couldn't be corrected.

I wouldn't touch that car with a 10 foot pole, run, run far away.

I also wouldn't touch the car with a 10 foot pole. This car may in fact be fixed, but why take any chance and end up with the same hassle as the first owner? It's just not worth it when there are a lot of Vette's out there just waiting for a new home. Not only is this a potential problem vehicle, but the retail value of the car is nothing. As soon as a private party or dealer runs the vin when you're ready to sell it, nobody is going to want it. Good luck, but just don't be in a hurry and find a pristine non-buy back vehicle.

I agree with Iforman42. If this is a buyback it probably was declared a "Lemon" under some state's Lemon Law. In all likelyhood it will be nothing but grief.

If it's an automatic...it's not a Z06!!! No matter what, I'd stay far away, no matter how good a "deal" you're being offered!!

I agree with the above. The car obviously had more problems than could be fixed with multiple tries. You may be just asking for a headache.
