Now that the C6 is out I think the C5 is going to be a very sought after and collectible car in the future. The Vettes have been getting better and better since the c3 in my opinion but the C6 has been a step back. I am equating it to the pre 1968 cars, those are the sought after collector cars, not that 70's models. I see the same thing happening here with the C5.

I can't imagine that C1,2,3,4,or 6 General has as much "My Vette's better than a C5" posts as we have dissing the C6. Iceburgh was right last week when he said the attitude around here lately is not as friendly as it was. I recently bought an '04, but I won't join this chorus. Sounds too petty and a bit of sour grapes. I'd rather see this remain CORVETTEforum.com . Sorry, it's my bedtime now.
I don't think he's bashing the C6, just stating his opinion. He's not particularly fond of the new styling. Nothing wrong with that. It's funny how some members of this forum lately are telling people "what to post and how to post it" lately. That's far more disturbing to me than someone stating his opinion abot the C6. FWIW I'm not blown away by it yet either. When Acura redid the NSX finally, and went to nonpopup lights, I thought they did a good job. I would've been happy with either model, but I honestly can't say the same in this situation. I could go buy one if I wanted, but I don't have this urge to rush down to the dealer, which is usually the point of a new model. Point being, I can't speak for anyone else but there's no hating going on here. I welcome the day of putting my car up against others... Members of this forum who don't like what other people are posting, get over it. Chances are they feel the same way about your thread too...
You're jokeing right? late corvettes c4-c6's will never be collector cars like the c1-c3's and only the early c3's are really.
if they ever do become sought after you will have to wait way longer than 20 years more like 40-50 years.
I love my 95 vert and it has all the right options etc and still under 35k miles to this day but in 20 years I doubt it will be really "sought" after but in 50 years? maybe....

Alrighty then, I'm going to be one happy 97 year old, when my car becomes sought after. I feel a lot better now, knowing that I have that going for me, which is nice.
I do not think that the C-5 will ever be collectable because there were too many of each model produced-nothing is rare
And rare does not equal desirable. I guess collectability will depend on how many C5s end up in the scrap heap and how many are left in 30 years. IMHO, the C5 is a pretty solid and reliable car, and will probably outlive a lot of previous the generations.
This is a good one, I've had a bad day so I needed this as a laugh. There is nothing special with c5's I mean take a 97 and park it next to a 04 and there is not muc differences. Basically with c5's the wheels changed a couple times and you could get it with ot without bsm's. To be a car to collect it has to have options etc that are different from the others.
+ since the c6 came out and looks jjsut about like the c5 this makes it worse on the c5 since we now have more big butt c5 look alikes out there. So to see a c5-c6 style body corvette out there will be notihng special for 100 years I bet. The c1-c4's are more unique cars the c1-c2 are something to collect no ?'s asked and some c3's are and they're some nice c4 verts, zr1, lt4 verts etc that are special and will bring more than your c5's as they sit now.
not knocking the c5 it's a pretty car I thought about buying one a few months ago when I was looking I ended up buying a late c4 which was 23k so I could have bought a early c5 for that but I just think the c4 looks better.
all that said the c5 will not be sought after even in "50" years if it was the mazda rx7 would be too.

Ok, then based on your post it would seem no car built in this era will become collectible??? You are acting like everyone will always try to go after a pre 1973 car. I don't agree with this at all because a lot of the people paying top dollar for 60's cars are guys who had those cars when they were younger. They want to relive their youth, the same will apply to the C5 as the C5 was a defining generation in the Corvette legacy.
The same applies just as from the 60s-70's, the high performance muscle cars are the ones most sought after and they must look good too.

As much as I love my C5, I realize that because so many were produced and so many guys take really good care of them, there will always be a lot of them available for sale in decent condition. Don't think those are the conditions of a future collectible.
But you never know. I wish I'd hung on to the Lionel Trains I had as a child. Who knew back then that one day they'd be worth many many times the purchase price at the time they were new??

The C5 fits all those bills.
Basically yeah, I just can't see the c5 being a bit collector car one day It's all plastic the interior sucks big time and thats the main reason I lost in intrest in it after driving it. A lot of c5 guys think everyone thinks the c5 is teh best yet but fact is most don't.
but like I said b4 the c5 is a pretty car especially ffrom the front but in the side and rear view I don't like it much and it looks better in a vert (don't all vettes and this is coming from a coupe owner)
I'm not trying to knock your car but face it you have a 97-04 chevy car just drive it, it's nothing special and won't be until we are long gone probably if it ever is..

I see your point, but what will car collectors be looking for in 40-50 years???
Not milionaire types either, just gearheads that love fast cars from days of old.
Edited to add:
My biggest point is that I really hate the way car styling is going and headed. I can't imagine the monstosities in 40 years, all electric pieces of junk. I think the C5 is going to be the last great production car, I really do.
