I emailed THUNDERRACING.com and nothing has shown up from them on what I want to do, so I am asking you guys...
I have the following:
Car: 2000 C5 Coupe CORVETTE (A4 transmission)
I am going to swap the heads out with the AFR heads
you are selling:
AFR HEADS 205cc LS1 Cylinder Heads with 66cc
chamber assembled with 2.02" / 1.60" Valves, dual coil
valve springs(.600" max lift), and titanium retainers.
I want to buy a good cam through you guys and this is
where the questions start. What do you recommend?
This is going to be a daily driver, but I want to have
fun in it. I am not a guy that lives at the TRACK, so
I am not looking for 1/4 times. I want good all
around power.
So what I am looking at is...
AFR 205cc LS1 Cylinder Heads with 66cc
chamber
A CAM YOU GUYS RECOMMEND
Modified LS6 Oil Pump
ASP Harmonic Balancer Crank Pulley,
1997-2002 LS1 Corvette, 25% Harmonic Balancer Crank.
A TIMING CHAIN you guys recommend.
If you can think of anything else that will be needed
(upgrading too) to make a HEADS and CAM swap complete,
please add and let me know.
This is an extremely serious inquiry that I really am
planning to do this around this time next year. I
will have a better time once my orders are approved.
Please help me, and let me know what the fees are for
the install. Like I said, I want to have you guys do
the work.
Please guys, especially you heavy HEADS and CAM guys, I need some support on this. Who to go through? I am going to be driving cross country and would like to try and stick to someone on the way (not to far out of the way) from LOS ANGELES to Charleston, SC.
My car is currently strapped to the dyno getting tuned with a AFR head/cam package. It is about 470rwhp and 425 tq, and supposedly a little more tuning to go. I will post the final numbers and exactly what was done in the perfomance section in the next day or so.
Call Tony at AFR. He will tell you what you will need. They can set you up with the heads, matched cam, gaskets for tight quench, etc. He is really a good guy and will give you the best advice from the man that designed them.
Have whichever shop is going to do the install / tune help you select the parts. Don't forget to upgrade the valve springs. I would also advise a PCV catch can and a valve cover breather.

Thanks to everyone that replied and I am very interested to hear what happens with your DYNO tune and what you have done. I will try Tony at AFR and I have been eyeballin' that GX cam too. I would love to hear more. I am so stoked!
