Help, need a TSB for an 04 Escalade
Yes, I know. This has been in off topic - other vehicles (who looks at that)? I have e-mailed Alldata about their bug.
From OT:
I need a TSB for my wife's 2004 Cadillac Excalade. The number and description is below. I'm not too cheap to buy from Alldata, when you try to sign up, you have to put in the year of the vehicle, and the list stops at 2003, even though you can look up 2004 vehicles.

History: First vehicle I ever bought sight unseen. Had the dealer deliver (in the rain of course). About 70 miles on it at delivery. The first time I drove it I heard this immediately. The muffler sounds like a woodpecker on a metal pole. Took it in. I have a work order that says Cadillac knows about the problem. No known fix. In June the dealer replaced the entire exhaust system except for exhaust manifolds. They said then that it may come back. It has. Went back to dealer Tuesday (9-21-04). They have ordered "parts," but don't know what (???). They will call when the parts come in. This is strike 2. Alabama has a 3 strike lemon law. This will probably get interesting. I could fix the problem for @$200 - a quiet Flowmaster installed, but I think GM shold fix this. I asked for the TSB at the dealer and they would not give it to me.

I have the same problem on my 03 Escalade.
Although I have not noticed it since I got rearended two months ago and got the bumper fixed. I told the body shop that I am now hearing a pinging sound in the rear and they said they woudl look into it.
It sounds like it is a heat shield that is getting too hot and the expanding and contracting is what is causing the pinging.
Now I'll have to pay closer attention to it.

TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin. Go to www.alldata.com and look up your vette, there will be a listing of the TSB's but no details. When they have a persistent, non safety problem, they issue these to dealers to fix, alleviate, passify, whatever. My wifes rings under acceleration. Very annoying. The dealer ordered a heat shield and a strap. I don't think that is going to fix the problem.
