I posted a month or so ago about the continuing sag of the front end on my 2000 convertible. I adjusted the jack bolts "up" to raise the front twice, the last time, I screwed the bolts ALL the way in. The front end continued to sag.
Took the car to the Corvette specialist at my local Chevy dealer. He shined a flashlight up to the center mount of my spring, and found a crack...actually an area where the spring is/was delaminating on both sides of the mount. The cure? A new spring.
So problem solved. Never hit any potholes, never did anything "crazy" to cause it to crack. It just started to delaminate. The car has 38K miles on it. Apparently this is a relatively common problem, as he told me he's replaced about 6 front springs on C5's due to cracking/delaminating. Thanks to all for the advice. Chuck
