Default problems after 30k miles?

today i had someone tell me "vettes take a poop after 30k miles"

granted i'm new to vettes (had my '04 z06 for two months only) but from reading the boards i was under the impression that the recent vettes (at least the c5/z06's '01+ ) were rather solidly built aside from oil consumption, leaking differential, and normal wear and tear to go along with maybe a few miscellaneous stuff

i told him he doesn't know what he was talking about

I never put that many miles on any Vette I had. On the other hand, I think a lot of Vettes are high miles cars. Thats the thing, they are cars. My 04Z should easily go 100,000 miles with normal maintenance if I wanted it to. Don't be concerned, enjoy it and find a good dealer if you need anything done.

I have 35,000 on mine, and it is going strong. Keep up with the fluids, and wear and tear parts and you should get 100,000 or more. Too much fun to drive to worry about the low miles thing or collector stuff. Have fun with it.

I know you are probably talking about C5's and Z06's, but above you said "vette's". Before I bought my Z, I had an 82 Collector Edition Corvette. When I sold it, it was 20 years old and had 75,000 miles on the clock. It still looked good inside and out and would still get 25 miles per gallon. I had it for 10 of those 20 years and had very little trouble with it. Replaced the AC compressor, battery, tires and changed the fluids regularly. The retired doctor I sold it to was glad to get it. He wouldn't even drive it before he bought it. He said he could look at it and tell that I had taken good care of it and that it was in excellent condition.

Hi pb24dagrk -

You answered correctly. The only poop in your exchange with this person was eminating from thier pie-hole.

Honestly, do you think Chevrolet would sell 35k Corvettes a year, year after year, with the kind of brand loyalty that Corvette achieves, if they only lasted 30k miles?

Laughable. Some folks will say anything.

My Z06 has 32k miles on it. It runs better than it did new, and it has had no serious mechanical problems (I have the clutch issue which will be addressed under warranty when I am ready to take it in).

I get 20mpg overall average, and can spank most cars that can be driven on the street in every performance category. Yea, it's a real shizz-box

best regards -

My 1998 LS1 Camaro Z28 has just done 72000 miles and is still as smooth and as tight as it ever was. I expect my Z06 to be the same.

My 84 has almost 300,000 miles on it and the engine has never been rebuilt. It leaks and smokes a little but still runs strong lol

I've got 40K on 02 Z06 bought 4/2002. Only thing wrong with it is passenger side electric window doesn't work and recently the fuel gage went south.

I hope that's not true as I just dropped mine off at LPE to get their SC package installed. Seriously they are going to do a leak down test prior to the installation so I guess I'll find out.
