I believe it was U1016, which is a loss of communication with PCM. This is probably a phantom error, however I would like to know what the 58-SDM module is so I know what had the communication error. Is it the PC instrument Panel Cluster? Thanks again for any help.

Did you ever find out what this code U1016 is caused by?
I have the same one as well after installing vararam/fog lights, and removing the screen from my MAF.

SDM is the Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module. DTCs U1001-U1254 are lost communication error messages. The C5 modules are connected via a class 2 serial data circuit. Each module on the class 2 serial data circuit which is powered and performing functions that require a detection of a communications malfunction is required to send a Node Alive message every 2 seconds. When no message is detected from a module in 5 seconds a DTC will be set. The last 3 numbers in the DTC is the ID number of the module that is not communicating. In this case 016 is the module ID for the PCM.

When reviewing DTCs, you should also note the suffix which will be either a "C" for current or "H" for history. A current code indicates the malfunction still exists. A history code indicates a past problem.

Hope this helps.
